Frequently asked questions

Answers about the research and simulation software. Check your confirmed licence and the documentation for your build.

What is MBO Analyzer intended for?

It is software for analysing supported market data, defining strategy rules for research, evaluating them through simulated backtests and practising with simulated trading. Research examples and results are not personal investment advice or recommendations to transact.

Which markets and data formats can I analyse?

Use the formats and instruments listed in the documentation for your build and licence. The research scope includes supported tick and market-by-order (MBO) datasets, including compatible MetaTrader 5 Bid/Ask tick exports. Order-level features need compatible MBO data and cannot be reconstructed from Bid/Ask ticks alone.

Do I need a market-data provider account?

Analysing compatible local files does not need a live feed. For real-time market data, on plans that include it, you need your own access with a supported data provider. Provider permissions and fees are separate from the software licence. The data connection only receives data and does not submit orders.

Can it place real trades or trade on a broker's demo account?

No. Simulated trading happens entirely inside the software: orders, fills and positions are modelled by MBO Analyzer and are never sent to a broker, an exchange or a broker's demo account. It does not place real-money orders, copy trades or distribute trading signals.

Can it send alerts?

Yes. You can be notified, including by an optional Telegram message with a chart image, when conditions you defined are met in the software. The software sends the message from your computer to your own Telegram chat. Alerts report your own rules; they are not trading signals or recommendations from us.

Does the software need a licence?

Yes. Your licence sets the available features, the number of computers and the licence period. The software checks the licence with our servers and keeps working for up to 72 hours without an internet connection. See the software terms for what happens when a licence ends.

Do I need programming experience?

Strategies and indicators use JSON definitions. Basic definitions may not need conventional programming, but you need to understand the rules, the supported features and the validation results. An AI assistant can help draft a file from the documentation; its output may contain mistakes and must be reviewed.

Does a backtest or a simulated trade reproduce real trading?

No. A backtest is a simulation based on historical data and chosen rules, costs and fill assumptions, and simulated trading models fills in the same way. Real markets can differ in liquidity, latency, queue position and other conditions, so real results can be very different.

Does it run on macOS or Linux?

The current software is for Windows only. Review the system requirements before installing.

How much data can it handle?

It depends on the number of events, the data format, the enabled calculations, memory and storage. A busy order-book session can be much larger than a quiet one or a Bid/Ask tick file. Use a representative dataset during the trial rather than assuming a fixed number of days will fit.

How does the trial work?

Request a 14-day trial for one computer. No payment card is required. We will confirm availability, the included features and when the trial starts and ends.

Are example strategies recommendations?

No. Examples illustrate supported research rules and software features. They are not personalised recommendations, validated investment products or a promise of future results.

Do order-flow labels prove what market participants intended?

No. Analytical labels describe patterns under a defined model. They do not establish manipulation, hidden order size or a participant's motive, and data coverage limits the conclusions that can be drawn.
